Taking as its point of departure Robert Filliou’s notion of Galerie légitime—understood as a portable, minimal, and displaced form of exhibition—the painting translates that structure into the language of painting. Its monochrome surface functions both as container and threshold, suggesting the presence of hidden works within.
Rather than exhibiting, the painting withholds. Its closed condition transforms visibility into a hypothesis, shifting the idea of exhibition toward a latent, interior, and mental space.
Blue, the identifying color of Davis Museum Barcelona, introduces a nocturnal and restrained atmosphere that reinforces the silent and enigmatic character of the work.
